Today was book re-stocking day at CHOC’s Outpatient Infusion Center as well as at the Oncology Clinic. We delivered 295 new books so that patients can continue to pick out a great book at every outpatient visit. Thanks to all of our donors who allow us to continue to support oncology kids’ thrivership with books and reading! To help ECBC fund next month’s delivery, please join in on our BOOK IT annual fundraiser and participate in the Run 5 Donate 5 Nominate 5 Challenge — link to learn more and donate is www.runsignup.com/BOOKIT2022.
Re-stocking day at our mini gifting libraries at Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC)‘s Outpatient Infusion Center and the Oncology Clinic. We delivered 400 new, high-quality books so that kids can select one at every outpatient visit! Thanks to all our donors who allow us to continue to make this happen!
Yesterday was our monthly book re-stocking day at CHOC’s Outpatient Infusion Center and Oncology Clinic. We delivered 350 new books — one of our largest donations ever in a single day! Kids now know that when they visit CHOC’s cancer clinic or the infusion center for an outpatient treatment, they get to pick a new book to keep. And some are even requesting specific titles to be there for their next visit!
To help ECBC continue to provide books and reading to oncology (and other) patients at CHOC, you can purchase a book to donate from our Amazon Wish List, which will be sent directly to ECBC (and bookplated with your name on it). Click HERE to access the wish list and donate.
We just delivered new, high-quality books of all types to re-stock our library cart and bookshelves at CHOC’s Outpatient Infusion Center and CHOC’s Oncology Clinic, respectively. We also replenished CHOC Oncology’s inventory of our Read Think Thrive Bags for kids newly diagnosed with cancer, so that they can start their battle with cancer with the best materials that make it easier for parents to promote cognitive health and thrivership during treatment. It really is the best feeling to fill bookshelves with awesome, high-quality literature that many of these patients wouldn’t otherwise have access to! #readthinkthrive #cognitivehealth #thriveagainstcancer
This week ECBC delivered our first books of the year, 360 of them — 168 books to re-stock our library cart at the Outpatient Infusion Center and 192 books to fill up our newly established Gifting Library at CHOC’s outpatient oncology clinic. Now, every child visiting CHOC’s Outpatient Infusion Center and the Oncology Clinic will be offered a new, high-quality and age-appropriate book at their visits.
The cost to replenish these gifting libraries is about $3000/month, which we hope we can sustain but depend 100% on donations in order to do so. To help with a monetary donation, click here. Currently, we are lowest on board books and Spanish books, with no backup supply at all. To donate either of these types of books, click here (board books) and here (Spanish). We also are very low on information/fact books (click here to purchase off the wish list), graphic novels (click here), and teen/young adult books (click here).
Thank you for helping kids thrive through treatment with high-quality books and reading!
