Striving to make access to books and reading a core part of the care that kids receive in the hospital, with the premise that literacy support for children fighting cancer and other life-altering conditions can help promote cognitive health and social connections that are part of thriving through treatment and beyond

Ways to Support!

Here are some ways that you, your school, or your group can help ECBC:

  • Donate money to support books and reading for hospitalized kids. Click HERE to contribute directly ECBC!!
  • Donate books online: Purchase books from one of ECBC’s wish lists on Amazon, which will be sent directly to ECBC. Click HERE to access links to ECBC’s wish lists.

  • Support BOOK IT! — ECBC’s annual charity run and book drive!  To make a monetary donation to BOOK IT, click HERE.

  • Organize a book drive: Help your child coordinate a new book drive at their school (school book fairs and the Scholastic book club program are terrific ways to do this); as part of a group social action project* (e.g., Girl Scouts service project; in lieu of birthday gifts, or as an “admission ticket” to an event).  All titles and all book formats for all ages (from board books to young adult novels) are needed and welcomed. We ask that book drive hosts deliver the books to our drop-off location in North Tustin.   • Involve your youth group in our RTT Book Bag program. Help with collecting books or art supplies for our book bags, write Care Cards using ECBC stationary, or be a Thrive Buddy and create creative literature responses that go in book bags. Click HERE to learn more about RTT Bags. 

  • Host your own “Book Drive & Thrive” Party! Host a literary themed event, collect books as an admission ticket, organize literature-based activities (e.g., making bookmarks, conducting a storytime, book-themed cookie decorating or food craft). Write Care Cards for our book bags!

  • For students, start an Ethan & Choco’s Club at your school! Recruit members and decide how the club will support ECBC!  CLICK HERE to learn more. 
  • Earn a private RTT Book Bag Packaging Day with your group by collecting the items/funds for 10+ RTT Bags (each RTT Bag valued at $150) — this is a project that generally spans several months.
