ECBC operated as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization from 2015-2025, during which time it provided bedside reading in patient rooms and numerous book gifting programs at CHOC Children’s Hospital in Orange County CA — amounting to more than 5600 bedside reading sessions and more than 40,000 new books gifted. Upon ECBC’s dissolution, a fundraiser was initiated with the Foundation at CHOC to continue the mission of ECBC by providing literacy support that promotes cognitive health, an essential part of thrivership that is vital for defending childhood.
