TTRG Founding Story
Upon becoming a teenager himself, Ethan noticed that teen cancer patients at the hospital were less likely to participate in our bedside reader read-aloud program and also less likely to read on their own. He wanted to create a space where teens would be inspired to read as well as to connect through dialogue about great literacy stories and personal cancer stories. With the help of a local realty group and a nonprofit “shark tank” fundraising event, Ethan secured his own funding for the program and launched it on a private account on Instagram — a safe space where teens already hang out. Ethan has been hosting monthly discussions every month since January 2021.
