Ethan surrounded by the 100 books from Mrs. Abrams’ kindergartners!
Thank you so much to Mrs. Abrams’ kindergarten class at Pacific Elementary School in Manhattan Beach for the 100 books you just donated to ECBC! Here’s what they did: As part of their Writers’ Workshop unit in persuasive writing, students wrote persuasive letters to their parents outlining the chores and tasks they would do to earn money so they could buy books for the ECBC library. In one week, they made posters, did all kinds of extra chores, and held bake sales and lemonade stands all over town! Getting students to use what they learn about persuasive writing techniques to convince others of the importance of books and reading for hospitalized kids — what an AMAZING way to integrate curriculum and social action!! Thank you so much Mrs. Abrams and Room 30!!
